👋 Hi there! I’m Mahyar - it’s pronounced: /ˈma’h:īär/ 👋

I am passionate about intelligence, both in brains and machines.

I’m a senior AI/ML scientist. I work at TfNSW on a number of AI-based projects ranging from:

• Automatic road condition monitoring using computer vision & deep learning;
• AI assistant in project management for document generation and analytics using LLM agents;

Previously I worked for a biotech company called Provectus Algae Pty Ltd, where I lead the machine learning team. In this company, the aim was (and still is) to accelerate microalgae 🍀 to extract and produce natural biosynthetic molecules 🧬.

Before that, I worked at Auckland Bioengineering Institute , Soul Machines , and Aider as R&D Software Engineer on computational modelling, machine learning, and computer vision.

I’m still an active researcher 📚. I am affiliated with Auckland Bioengineering Institute of the University of Auckland where I undertake scientific research and act as a consultant on various projects. My research interests include computational biology 🔬, machine learning 🧮, and neuroscience 🧠. Additionally, I collaborate with researchers at the Bogacz Group from University of Oxford on various computational neuroscience studies.

As a side hustle, in January 2023, I started Entropia, my consultancy company to help other companies with their AI/ML projects.

Aside from all of the above, I enjoy acting 🎭 and have played in a number of theatre productions in Auckland and Sydney.
